January 2026

Wellness travel is booming and the proof is in the numbers. According to the Global Wellness Institute, over the next four years, wellness tourism will grow 9.1 percent, while the thermal and mineral springs sector is expected to expand by 10 percent. Given the continuing increase in interest, it’s a good idea to educate yourself on the sector by taking the Wellness Travel University Gold Course. The course offers a holistic view of wellness travel options. Those who complete the course get access to a range of additional educational tools, including special courses, webinars and more.

Meantime, with the Olympics coming up, all eyes will be turning to Italy next month. Lovers of skiing, snowboarding and sliding sports like luge and bobsledding will be virtually visiting Cortina d’Ampezzo, located in the Dolomites. As this area in the northeast of Italy gets star billing, more of your clients may be coming in asking for wellness options in the region. Many of the big names in wellness are represented, including ADLER, Aman, COMO,, Mandarin Oriental, and, one of my favorite Italian wellness hospitality brands, Lefay. But don’t overlook some of the one-off five-star family-run properties, like Sonnweis Dolomites, Hotel Quelle Nature Spa Resort and Hotel Chalet Mirabell. The latter features one of the largest spa areas in the Dolomites, including South Tyrol’s longest heated natural swimming pond. All of these places are guaranteed to provide guests with a gold medal experience.
